Different brands DDR on a motherboard?

Right now I have 2 x 512MB PC2700 HyperX on my P4G8X-DLX and I'm thinking about getting 2 more sticks for the mobo.
A friend of mine told me that he could get me a pair of XMS or maybe Mushkin black DDR sticks.
Will these sticks work with my HyperX?

HyperX is just as good as those and cheaper. For dual channel, you are supposed to use DIMMs with the same memory chips.
