Differences in performance between different HD

From what I tell from the charts, many of the hard drives seemed to have pretty much the same performance. Granted a 7200 rpm drive is much faster than a 5400 and a 10K Raptor is probably faster than a 7200. Performances difference between drives of the same class is often less than 10%. Is this correct?

I will say this much, if you started taking benchmarks with a 3200 RPM, 2.5" hard drive and ended with a 15,000 RPM SCSI in RAID 5, you would notice the difference. 😉
