differences in amd line up.

Im not yet ready to buy a new CPU, because mainly, the current amd barton2800 i have is doing its job...but...i would like to know the differences right now in terms of amd's line up of sempron and athlon 64bit (other than the obvious 64) does this mean that by this time next year, there will no longer be 32bits from amd?
So the new norm/standard from AMD will be the athlon64?
There's a local computer store that sells opterons still and would like to learn what would be suited better for me (some gaming, mostly internet, photography)

semprons now are mostly 64bit enabled. i would still say the biggest difference is the lack of cache.
