i havent started messing with dualies that much yet, or should i say i need to find this out b4 i do, would some1 PLZ help

They should be the same. CPU-Z identifies Opteron 165-180 cores as Toledoes. But you can clock an Opteron 170 to 2.6Ghz with less than 1.4v, whereas your average X2 3800+ can only go up to 2.4Ghz @ 1.45v. The reason the opty 144-148/165-180 chips are cheap is because servers normally use boards that use the 940 pin and can fit multiple chips onto one board. The Opteron 165-180 series is for socket 939 which doesn't have that feature, so it is sold for cheap.

thx u, my friend bought a 4400+ 2.75ghz 1.65v and he's whining about the heat when he clocks past that,i've seen ppl talking about opterons @2.7 with lower volts, he better not see this or he's gone blow up

thx for clearing it up

well...to give you an idea (single core wise) my opt 144 (1.8ghz) is good to 2.6 ghz on stock volts but it wont really go past that unless i throw 1.63v at it to get it up to 2.7 which is not worth it. but im content w/ 2.6 on stock. my load temp is 41 which im happy about because i didnt purchase a fancy cooler.

haha, that's what im talking about, stock cooling all the way, too lazy, i dun mind dropping some more on a cooler after buying a comp, but taking off the stock heatsink is somewhat of a hassle

but the 144 is more expansive than the 3700+ anyway, same temps and all, but definitely OUCH for my friend who bought the 4400+

ah...that's why you gotta jump on it when it was 130...how much did you nab your 3700 for?

wait do you mean expansive or expensive

oops, i prolly messed up on that too then, i got my 3700 for 230 a month ago, the cheapest 144 i found when i dbl checked was 150, still a 80dollar difference, but there is that slight(depends on who u are) difference of 200mhz on the cpu clock for that

and that's just one of the words i spell wrong all the time hehe
