Differences between trademarks

Hi, I'm buying a GeForce 7800GT and I'd like to know if there is any difference between the Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte cards apart from the bundled softwares.

Thanks,

Salvor Hardin

The boards themselves are produced by the respective OEM.

The "core" or "chip" is exactly the same though.

In other words there are differences in quality control, memory latency, clockspeed, and cooling.

Generally Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte are all high quality, along with some others you didnt mention like eVGA, BFG, and Gainward (gainward is no longer available in the US).

Cheaper brands (in my experience) tend to have higher failure rates, and slightly less performance at the same clockspeed. (although there are "diamonds in the rough" so to speak with certain brand/models).

eVGA, XFX, BFG, and PNY are pretty good.

i personally avoid PNY like the plague, however XFX used to be bad but has really turned around both their warrenty and support systems (the major complaint areas).

I have never owned a BFG, but from everything I've read BFG is king. I think their lifetime warranty has gone away, but they still make a great product.

I've never had a problem with any sort of value products vid card wise, my 6800GT was a PNY at a time when everyone was like dont buy PNY it's teh suxor. Now I bought a albatron 7800GT and look at how she overclocked(in sig)! Not to mention I got it for 329 from newegg on a one day sale ...not too shabby 🙂
