Newegg has several GTS cards for sale, all around 80+ dollars. Newegg also has a Visiontek card, based on the GTS-V core. I do not recall reading about this card, and Visiontek seems to be the only company selling it. Its 48 dollars.

How does the performance of the V compare to the GTS cards? Why is the V half the cost of the GTS cards?

The GTS-V is a low cost, no thrills card meant for OEM. The only difference between the regular GF2 GTS and GTS-V is a slightly slower clockspeed for the core and memory (175/286 vice 200/333). Otherwise, all the hardware features inherit to the chip is the same. Unlike the MX series, this card uses full speed, 128bit DDR. Even without overclocking, the GTS-V will outclass both the MX200 and MX400. This card is also a very good overclocker (since it's basically downclocked by default). I have two of these and they both can run beyond regular GTS speeds (although I normally keep them at 200/333). For the money, you really can't beat it. Here is a more detailed user review I submitted on it a while back.

So, you would rate the cards in this order?

1. GF2 GTS
2. GF2 GTS-V
3. GF2 MX

Also, would there be a big difference if I upgrade from TNT2 to a Geforce2 GTS?

system specs:
cel 733 @ 1.1ghz (100FSB)
Abit BH6 1.0
512mb
win 98

No problem.

How fast could you get the clock speed on the V card Brian?

i did 360mhz with no artifacts and it ran 3dbench successfully.. gave me a 4447.

the core was at 210 and it had 10 more mhz... if i had ran powerstriep i couldve pushed both the core AND memory some more.
