Differences between processors of two laptops

I am currently looking at two MSI laptops and cannot decide which one I should buy. The two laptops I am currently looking at are:
MSI Computer GT72 DOMINATOR Pro-444
and
MSI GT72 2QE-1444US

They are nearly identical and the reason I am struggling to choose between the two is because of the different processor in each laptop. I have selected these two because I am looking for the most powerful laptop processor that I can get my hands on which seems to only be in a select few laptops and these two look like great choices.

There is not much information on the 5950HQ right now but from what I have seen, it falls behind the 4980HQ in raw computing performance though I might have not interpreted some information correctly. The 5950HQ has the 6200 Iris graphics which is better than the 5200 Iris graphics in the 4980HQ but due to both laptops having a GTX 980M, this does not seem important.

I was hoping that someone could show me if one of the laptops is a more obvious choice than the other. I also wonder if there are other differences between the two laptops that I should be considering. I have looked at laptops other than these and have not been very impressed by what I have seen other than the GT80 from MSI, but I've already decided against it due to cosmetic reasons. If there are any other laptops that I should consider I would greatly appreciate being informed about their existence.

This laptop will be used for a wide range of tasks ranging from low to high intensity. Money is not a problem so this does not need to be considered for a final decision. I also already have a desktop, so suggestions to get one of them will not be necessary. Thank you in advance :D

5950HQ should be faster. It has a lower max turbo but the IPC at max turbo is about the same. So it wins by virtue of being a newer chip.

Thank you very much! This is extremely helpful.

I don't know much about G-Sync but I assume its a plus and I'm wondering if both have IPS displays. It is not very clear on the 1444US. I also noticed that it is on the Canadian website and assume that it will be available in the US shortly.

Is there a difference between the WLAN in each one?
WLAN: Killer™ N1525 Wireless-AC seems slightly different than Wireless LAN: Killer N1525 Combo (2*2 ac).

Based on the information you have provided, the obvious choice is the newer model but I am still worried that the 4980HQ is the better processor. I've looked around and seen that it apparently performs very similarly to a 4940MX.

In the overview for 1444US it states it has an IPS display.

"Vivid 17 inch Wide View IPS Display
MSI latest 17 inch gaming notebook built in with latest IPS high quality Wide-View panel LCD display takes image clarity to a whole new level..."

The killer n1525 in the 2 models should be the same. The 2*2 (typically written as 2x2) is referring to the transmit/receive antennas.
