Differences between Memory Stick, and Memory Stick DUO

What are the differences between the two? Normal Memory stick Pros are a little cheaper than the Duos, and are much more readily available. The Duos seem to be out of stock, just about everywhere. What are the differences between the two? Only size? If so, would you just be able to use the regular memory sticks, or Memstick pros in the PSP's (without being able to close the lid).? Or...could you just cut the platic portion of the regular longer memory sticks to make it fit? Why does Sony have to come out with even more Proprietary media? This sucks for people who have Sony Digicams, and thought that they were going to be able to use their existing memsticks in their PSP's.

Anyone have a regular small 8/16mb memory stick, that they want to "experiment" on, and try cutting that sucker? 🙂

Yes, only size. And marketing hoo-haw.

Also, I would assume that some of the memory sticks might have more chips in them. Like, instead of a single 1024Mbit flash chip, it might have two 512Mbit flash chips. My point is... don't cut your memory stick in half and stick it in your PSP. 😛

On a more relevant note, someone already used memory sticks in their PSP.

I thought duo's were not as wide as the regular ones, so I doubt it would even slide in properly.

Correct, the duo can fit completely inside the normal one.
