Differences between DMA 2 and DMA 5

I was comparing my primary and secondary IDE channels. Primary is 2 HDDs and is running DMA 5. Secondary is running two optical drives and is running DMA2.

Both hardrives will be on the same channel and both optics drives will be on thh same channel. I can't change that. But are the DMA modes optimal?

And what is the difference between DMA 2 and 5?

My opticals also run at dma 2
