I was eating at a restaurant in San Francisco a while back when I went to the restroom. Some Scandanavian kid came in a little after me. The restroom had one urinal and one toilet, but the toilet wasn't enclosed by walls or a stall. Instead, there was only a small piece of wood separating the urinal from the toilet. Basically, you were supposed to lock the bathroom door if you were going to use the toilet. The European kid looked really confused and then asked me 'Are all toilets in America like this - I don't think I could ever use it without a wall around it. Anyone can see me doing my business!'
So if you ask that European kid, he'll say:
Americans: take a sh!t with anyone watching
Europeans: sophisticated with fabulous doors and walls for a bathroom stall
