has serial and parallel ports?
only 4 sata plugs, all the rest have 8

All of the serial numbers denoted with an "e" are just updates to the ones without.. they have better power efficiency.

all my info from newegg... too tired to link

but personally i'm gonna get the ep35-ds3r since it has 8 sata ports... I think the first two i mentioned are only necessary for xfire? and the DS4 has a pretty sweet looking heatpipe system that the rest don't have... is it really worth the extra $$?

Would the P5K-E be a better choice, i can not find the IP35 anywhere? I am looking around the $120-160 price range
I am pairing with GSkill DDR2 1000 2x2gb and E8400

IP35? You mean the non-Pro one?

Some people have said the IP35 boards have had trouble with the E8400. Look on Abit's forum about it. The P5K-E is as good as the cheaper DS3R, but if you use a full-sized 8800GT with it a couple of the SATA ports are blocked. The more expensive DS4 surprisingly seems to have more problems with its BIOS than the cheaper Gigabyte boards.

i'm currently planning on hte ep35-ds3r. i do have an 8800gt and an e8400... so hopefully there won't be any issues!
thanks for the reply

Another vote for the DS3R. Just getting the build together but like the board so far. Will see how I like/dislike the BIOS, it's a bit different.

Normally I always use Asus boards but of late they seem more finnicky with RAM and some of the board layouts are awful, esp. PCI-E slot and SATA port locations --> tight to clear DIMM sockets and ports get blocked. Worse yet if you still need to use more than one PCI slot as most get obstructed.

Made the DS3R layout look downright genius ... really just common sense.

It's surprising that motherboard manufacturers continue to make the same mistakes in board layouts over and over again. You'd think they'd take into account that people are going to run 8800GT-sized cards and possibly use custom CPU coolers. It took them like an entire generation of boards (965->P35) just to figure out where the IDE and SATA ports belong.
