Difference in speed in 2 MB and 8 MB cache for HDDs?

How much faster is an 8 MB cache HDD than a 2 MB cache one?

I have an old 2 MB cache Seagate (80 gig barracuda IV) lying around and I'm thinking of putting it in my xbox1. But I'm concerned about load times not being fast enough. I want to load up both xbox games and playstation1 games on it so I don't want it to be too slow.

I don't have many xbox games (only have 4 right now, probably won't get more than 10 total ever) and not that many ps1 games so I think the 80 gig Seagate is sufficient in size.

I can either put the 80 gig in there right now, or I'd have to wait and get an 8 MB cache HDD. I want to also make the xbox as quiet/silent as possible, so I can't just hot deal any random HDD, so I'll have to find the right one. Also, I'd rather not spend money on an HDD just for the xbox.

1) How much faster/slower would loading a game from the 2 MB cache Seagate be than loading it from the stock DVD-rom?

2) Will the decrease in load times for an 8 MB cache HDD over a 2 MB cache HDD be noticable?

have both 60gig maxtor w/2mb cache and my trusty WD1200JB w/8mb cache, and the WD loads everything a couple of seconds faster. the difference is definitely worth the extra money.

but considering you already have the 80gig, just stick that in there.

The cost of a 8MB cache is worth it over a 2MB cache, but a 2MB cache is fine. I've noticed that programs reading/writing lots of small files is faster. Windows boots a lot faster, too. The extra cache typically helps when loading files sequentially.
