Is there any difference between Buffalo TechWorks DDR2 PC2-6400 FBDIMM's (they say for Mac's) and DDR2 PC2-6400 made by say Crucial?

I have an oppurtunity to get the TechWorks at a very nice price but will they work?

FBDIMMs are "Fully Buffered" memory modules, not the same as regular DDR2.

So, if you are buying the memory for a Mac Pro (not an iMac, which uses different memory), then get the FB DIMMS.

If you are looking for regular DDR2 not buffered non ECC ram, that is the much more common, more mainstream, generally less expensive RAM you find in most computer stores.

The Mac Pro uses Workstation/Server grade fully buffered memory like NXIL said. iMacs and Mac minis use laptop memory so be sure to research what you need for your specific model of mac because throwing in generic desktop memory won't work in the majority of cases.
