LOL, this is so scweed-up, thanks Ati.

Retail: 275/275
OEM: 250/250
LE: 230core/250mem

But, it is anyones guess as to what any particular manufacturer might use for their actuall product, so beware.

Umm, my old AIW Radeon is clocked at 166/166, methinks you are mistaken.

I'm not sure where you heard that but there are No R8500's in any form clocked that low.

ATi's Retail R8500 is 275/275.
ATi's OEM R8500 is 250/250, as are almost all third party R8500's.
The R8500LE is 250/250 not 230/250 as mentioned above.
Their are two third party manufacturers making R8500's at 230/230, these are often referred to as the "LELE"
The All In Wonder R8500DV is 190/230.

I don't want to start a flame war here, but I seem to remember back in the V3 days, every hardware site (Tom's, etc..) used to say how much ass the TNT2 kicked, yet everyone had a V3, and they ruled!! Everyone I knew who bought a TNT or TNT2 had problems, and the V3 was much better (being as good in quality in 16-bit as other cards were in 32-bit, yet much faster).

For $150usd...dont' count on it. It's most likely an OEM card 250/250....but hey...maybe they hooked you up...that just seems low for a retail 8500.

Long live the R300 ;) (which has not yet been born....9x00!)

i have a v3 2k pci in a cel300a rig for CS. runs pretty good, but i think my cpu is holding the v3 back. :p my v3 laughs at smoke, where as my radeon chokes. thus my v5 :) but my 8500 will soon replace my trusty v5 :D

You are correct. 8500 128MB is 250/250 while the XT will be 300/300.

Just to rectify, OEM and LE are one in the same - 250/250

The 230 POS is the 8500LELE

I'm happy ATi dropped the price... they gained a customer :)

The price on all 8500 retail cards dropped last week. You can purchase a retail 275mhz card for as low as $159

ATi is now producing all Radeon 8500s with 128mb of ram; the OEM/LE Radeon 8500 128mbDDRs will still be clocked to 250/250, and the Retail Radeon 8500 128mbDDR will still be clocked at 275/275.

I got in on that Gateway deal as well. They were very vague on which, but people including yourself called and they say its retail. I'll send it right back if it isn't. Great deal if it is.

Is the 8500DV the only 8500 that has VIVO capabilities? Anybody know why it's clocked so much lower (190/230) than the other 8500 series cards?? I can perhaps understand the logic of reserving the 275-capable chips for their gamer-specific cards but it seems they're forcing their buyers to make a choice: fast 3D graphics or VIVO with 30% slower 3D graphics. Once nVidia gets their VIVO act together, this might be regarded as a foolish design and marketing decision.

yes, the 8500dv is the only one that has video in. The regular 8500 has tv out, but no video in. The dv is clocked slower b/c of the tuner on the card.

Just to make sure everyone knows the DV is 230 core 190 RAM.
And yes, it's because that TV tuner get so hot,
I would rather have RCA-in and use a VCR or Cable box.

Has anyone ever seen a 8500 with 4ns Hynix RAM as opposed to 3.6?

Because thats what I have.
