Difference for Wake up from S4 vs. S5 ???

Hello,

short but (I assume difficult question):
Why is it possible, that e.g. the task scheduler wakes up the system from S4 (hybernation, suspend to disk) , but not from S5 (soft off) state ????
In both cases the system is powered down completly, you can disconnect the power, and after reconnecting a wake up from S4 is possible.

Or I think the better question would be:
How is it possible, that the system wakes up from S4 ???
the only functionallity I would be aware of is the RTC Wake up function, but I assume, this is not used for the wake up!

thanks for any answeres
