difference btw 4x and 8x AGP mobo

anyone know the real difference btw the two, im still using a 4x having upgrade to 8x would i receive a huge difference i do have an 8x ability card

It`s very small, save your money and wait for PCI -Express before you upgrade your board/video 😉.

regarding your original question: no there isn't much difference between the two. that much has been covered by the other posters.

NOW. if you've got a 4x board, that also means that you've got an older processor and older ram. in which case if you're going to try and play the big games next spring, like doom, your board/cpu/ram may not cut it. sure you could stick a 9800pro in your board, but then it won't be your video card slowing you down, it'll be everything else.

on the other hand. if you've overclocked the crap out of an xp 1700+ to say 2.3Ghz, then well... you're good to go. just get a new video card.

 
thanks a lot guys, thats exactly what i figured, soo ill just keep my system till either the Ath FX 51 gets real cheap, or something new comes out
