Difference btn ATI 9600 PRO & SE, Is it memory or what?

9600 pro = 400/300 & 128 bit memory bus
9600np = 325/200 & 128 bit memory bus
9600se = 325/200 & 64 bit memory bus

I would never buy a 9600 se if I actually wanted to play games.

so pro is lowest I would go if I didn't want the money on 9700 or 9800

A world of difference. The 9600SE (like the 9200SE) has a 64-bit memory bus. Avoid it like the plague if you're a gamer.

Yep, 9600Pro is the way to go for a relatively low price card.
