Win2K server is the server version of Win2k. In WinNT terms, Win2K Pro is NT 5.0 Workstation and Win2K Advanced Server is NT 5.0 Server.

The version you have at home is not for server functions so it does not come with certain services. Also, it is not able to handle as many connections concurrently. Advanced server can. The server version is also optimized to run better for server apps.

Server supports more RAM and more processors.

Server has more MMC Snap Ins.

Server is a server based operation system, Pro tries to be a server based OS.

W2K Pro. able to run with 96MB to 128MB ..it's just like Windows NT Workstation...mainly acting like a machine within a network..1 or just few RAS..less network capacities..W2K Server it's like Windows NT Server...to be the host for pcs within the network...most power in networking and support more RAS...of course need more RAM to run at least 256MB Microsoft said.
If you don't have more than like 4 or more computers at home or at work...juse use W2K Pro. It depends ...even u have 3 computers u could try the server version ...no one can't judge u anyway if u have met requirements.

Go to Mark Russonovich's site
and you will find your answer and some excellent tools.
Some of his tools make MS nervous, like NTFSDOS,look at it.
For quick navigation use his site map, youWill be amazed.
The short answer server can handle more users and more resources.
