Difference between usb 2.0 and 1.1 cable?

I have a computer with usb2.0 ports and a usb2.0 compliant scanner. And I have an extra usb cable that doesn't have any designations (assumed to be usb1.1) that I'm using to hook the scanner up. Do I have to go buy the special usb2.0 cable to take advantage of the the extra speed or does the cable not matter as much. The scanner seems to work fine, but I'm wondering if I'm cheating myself of the extra performance of usb2.0.

Most likely no (over 90% chance) as the only difference is just the certification Label on the cord.
