I just bought a rackmount UPS 1500va from tripplite. In the manual there isn't any explanation about these outlets. which outlet should I plug my server? This tripplite provides a software to monitor the ups and shutdown the server.

.... Help ... i'm a nob admin

The software should show you a graphic image of the outlets, and tell you if the outlet is battery backup or surge protected only. I suspect that all outlets on a rack unit like yours will be backed up.

The 2nd page photos might help.

Tripp

I don't have a rackmount, but I have two Tripplite UPS's. There are 4 switched and 2 unswitched plugs. The unswitched are surge protected only - not part of the battery backup system. My manual defines them as Type A and B.

A is battery backup and surge protection. That is where computer, monitor and critical devices go.

B is surge protection only. Plug in printers and othger non-essential devices here.
