Got a 1700 DLT3C (brown base) with AIWGA 0322SPMW stepping code and a 1700 DUT3C (green base) with a JIUHB 0312XPMW stepping code.

My question:
1. What's the difference between the green and brown base?
2. Which is the better processor for OC'ing?

Paid about $45.00 for each. Was that a good price?

there's nothing different between the green and brown "base" just different organic stuff they use.... doesnt mean one will overclock better than the other...

but in this case...

wow... weird... an AIWGA 0322??? what the??? that's jacked up beyond belief!!! hahaha... i dunno if that's a tbred B... that is the latest production week tbred 1700+ i've ever heard of before... hehehe...

you wanna send it to me to test out? :)

what are the numbers on the processor? there should be like a five digit number starting with 2... like 27648 or 27291...

the other green one DUT3C 0312 is a tbred B and should be good to go for overclocking!!!

but i'd like to see your results with that 0322 1700+ ....

tbred b's usualy have a B ending where the A at the end of AIWGA there would usually be a "B" in order to clarify that it is a B but it doesn't have it...

anyway...

give it a go and let us know!!! i'm excited to see your results...

The numbers in gold are 27291 (what do they mean?)

I don't have any numbers yet as I am just getting ready to start assembling the new rig. All brand new stuff, Antec SX1080 II case w/clear side panel, ABit NS7-S rev. 2, two Western Digital 60 gig Caviar drives in SATA RAID, 52x24x52 Verbatim CD-RW, ASUS 128 meg Ti4200 video, 2-512meg Kingston 2700 ValueRam, XDream HAC-V81 CPU cooler (lapped to mirror surface-it needed it!) Windows XP (still new in the box)

Gonna get a Zalman ZM-MFC1 six channel fan controller and something to keep track of the various temps.

I'm hoping this will be one heck of a gaming rig!!!

Thanks for the info. I will keep everyone posted.

sad.. only pc2700?

j/k

yeah... your ram might become your limiting factor...

27291 is the new substrate they are using after 0319 tbreds...

the older ones like the 0310 i have still used the 27648 substrate...

with the new sub, you should be able to see the electronic traces on the surface but not on the older ones....

i think you have a tbred b but it's hard to tell.. once you start overclocking that chip, we'll be able to tell..

so yeah, keep us updated! :)
