Difference between tomato sauce and tomato paste

Went to the market to buy tomato sauce for my spegetti and saw tomato paste on sale for 1/2 price.

i didnt buy it cause i like onions and mushrooms in my sauce.

but whats the difference between plain tomato sauce and tomato paste?

yeah, i think you're supposed to add it to a pot of sauce to thicken it up.
 
paste = tomato flavoured glue
sauce = stuff you put on pasta.

Base sauce = like 4 parts crushed/stewed tomatoes to 1 part paste.
