All Asus: Anyone knows the difference between them?

1. M5A78L-M LX
2. M5A78L-M LX Plus
3. M5A78L-M LX V2
4. M5A78L-M LX/BR
5. M5A78L-M LX3

It seems according to the picture of the LX and and LX Plus, they are exactly identical. I wasn't able to find a "Compare" option to compare them. Funny they all are low-end boards, and so many of them!

I own board no. 1, actually. It says it's AM3+ Ready! but when I put an FX-8120 on it, it said, "CPU not compatible" blah blah blah.

It is only Socket AM3+, not BD ready. It could be an old inventory made before BD was launched and yet to receive the latest BIOS to support BD. You will have to update the BIOS to this version. How you're going to do that is another question as some boards would require an older, compatible CPU on the board to flash it first, only then would you be able to swap for your FX-8120.

FYI: I'm already on BIOS 0801. The board is using a 560 BE. The FX-8120 is on my Gigabyte's.

1. M5A78L-M LX - Only supports up to 95w TDP (or 2.8ghz PHII X6) and does not have all solid caps.
2. M5A78L-M LX Plus - Can support up to 125w TDP and has all solid caps.

Wait, I'm confused. You mean you already have a 560 BE on the Asus motherboard and a FX-8120 on your other Gigabyte? If so then why go through the trouble of swapping? In the link I posted there is only BIOS 0510 and there is no BIOS 0801 in the CPU support list for that motherboard.

Long story short, I just wanted to see if it indeed supprts FX (DB) CPU. On Asus' site, it says FX-8120 is supported beginnign with BIOS 0501, but I always look for the latest BIOS, so I flashed to 0801, which is the latest release up to this point.

@SLK:

Thanks for the info. Now I know, and maybe that's why I can't OC my 560 BE to 4Ghz. The board lacks better components.

Yours will support up to an FX6100 and that is all. The Plus version supports up to an FX8120.

Funny, the CPU list for my "non-PLUS" board says FX-8120 and FX-8150 are supported, starting with BIOS 0501.
