Difference between these two Cooler Master Cases?

Hi, im new by the way.

Anyways, Im building my own computer in one month, and am planning now. I was looking at the Antec Piano Black silent one, but then I came across two Cooler Master cases I liked. There are little physical differences between the WaverMaster and Cavalier cases it seems, other than the front being a tad different and front ports at different locations. Price tho, theres big differences. Ones $60 while the other is $120. Im really drooling over the $120 WaverMaster Blue Case, but I want to know more about these two cases before I buy. I see the Wavermaster is a little bigger physically, and I read that it is all Aluminum, unlike the Cavalier being "1/2" Aluminum. Thanks

(btw, Am I allowed to link to the newegg pages for both cases [itd be kinda convenient]? If I cant, ill edit them out)
WaverMaster
Cavalier 3

the cavalier is a steel case w/ aluminum front panel while the wavemaster is all aluminum.

btw, linking to newegg is ok and welcom to the forum 🙂

Ok, thanks

I was looking into them both again, I noticed The Cavalier 3 (the cheaper one) has an extra 5.25" bay. Nothing I could really care about. But, I found one more difference, The MasterWaver has (3) 80mm Fans, while the Cavalier has (2) 80mm and one 120mm Fan. Would the extra 40mm do any difference? Im not sure to the differences. Also, I found the WaverMaster has a removable motherboard tray, very convenient and easier to build. Also, the Cavalier 3 has a Side Air Vent while the WaverMaster doesnt. What does it do?

So, I see a difference between the built-in cooling system between the systems now, Heres my future computer:

Hmm... I am leaning towards the MasterWaver, but I need second opinions cause I dont want to get something stupid (like last time... I learned my lesson on flashy cases lol)

If you have $120. to spend on a case then buy the cheaper and better Thermaltake Tsunami Dream at Newegg. It comes with 2-120mm front and rear fans and a 90mm side fan.

If you prefer silver get in here for $110. shipped with coupon code.

both of these cases are not bad, but to tell you the truth, they are outdated. people now want cases with 120mm fans because 120mm fans moves more air and are quieter at doing that. if you are willing to pay $120 for a case, there are better cases out there.

just a few examples... you can shop around to get better prices...

SILVERSTONE SST-TJ05B-W

however, i dont like thermaltake cases 😉

also, your link is broken.

thanks, I look into those cases.

btw, I fixed link to my newegg wishlist (which will be my future computer im building. But, within one months time, things can (prolly will) change)

edit: snowice, you said you dont like thermaltake cases, is your opinion the same on thier PSUs also? Cause I was planning to get one of thier 500watt PSU from newegg (see my link to wishlist). I think I was/am attracted to the Masterwaver's blue case, looks sleek.

your wish list looks good, but why are you getting a beige dvd burner? a black one would match your new case better. personally, i don't like lite-on because i had one crapped out on me. for about the same price i'd go with this nec.

Cause everyone keeps on saying Lite-On, blah blah always get Lite-On. I thought, well, they know more than me, so Ill go on thier word. As for the beige, I meant to get a black one (after I choose Wavermaster over Cavalier).

Anyways, its ironic. I got a NEC dvd+-rw burner 4x single-layer about a year and a half ago for $110 (Ill have two dvd burners on my new computer). its missing the little black piece tho (I dunno what to do about that lol.):

see if anyone here w/ a dead black opitcal drive will help you out. some one can mail you that cover thingy.

or you can spray paint the tray to black lol

If I had to chose between the 2....

I would go with the Cavaleir.....only becuase it has a 120mm fan port for the exhaust...🙂

Just a thought, couldnt I add one or two 120mm fans on the Wavermaster or maybe exchange one 80mm(?) (I dunno much about case fans and modding, but I know people a lot of people mod thier cases)?

anyways, the Centurion 532 looks good. I like how the ports are on top, and it has a front cover. Plus, its $60. I might get that.

120mm fans are much bigger than 80mm fans. when a case is made for 80mm fans, it can't take 120mm fans. of course you can mod your case, but are you willing to cut up your $100 + case? not to mention that to mod a case, you need lots of practice and some good tools.

[Just a thought, couldnt I add one or two 120mm fans on the Wavermaster ]

I have the Wavemaster, and I love the looks and durability of it. Love the mobo tray too. But I do wish it had 120mm fan openings, and I don't think it will be trivial to change. The back plate is something like 1/8 inch aluminum, and you would either have to replace it or machine it out.

Oh well about the wavemaster (or is it wavermaster? Some sites say one, and some say the other lol). I think im gon go with the Centurion or the Wavermaster. Dispite the 120mm fans, I honestly should go to Frys Electronics and look at both (Fry's always got this type of stuff on display, but im going to order via newegg to save some money)

thanks people, Ill figure which case im getting soon. Well, one question down, four to go.
