Difference between the 172x and the 710T???

both have 12ms response, almost identicle specs, except for the bezel size also the 710T doesnt have a dual hinge, nor magic tune and is 1.3 pounds heavier. What is the difference that causes the large price difference?

looks like right now the only difference i can find is that the 710T is not on the american website at samsung, only foreign countries.

King of Computer;

I was under the impression they are both 12ms 16.2M TN panels.

I sent you an email a few days ago Mike; i think the 710T is just an OEM LCD. The 172X is a retail unit.

DVI or no-DVI?

The 712N they have at bestbuy is a 12 ms monitor with no DVI. I know because I almost bought it then was horribly dissapointed to see the sales person open the box and see that it was VGA only 🙁

screw both of them and get the 173P man!
i'd go for the 172x if i had to choose between those two, as the 710T uses a TN panel, ewwww

both the 172x and the 710T use a TN panel like Mr. Kubicki said. The 710T has better contrast, brightness, and adjustability (i.e. it can be higher and can flip to portrait mode). It has DVI and is included with the purchase. I got my 710T today but I don't have my new computer to plug it in too yet 🙁 I will plug it in to a friends and check it out tonight and report back.

hmm, i never received that email kristopher. something must have happened.

but that is a very interesting thing since there is a 100$ difference in the two of them and the 710T seems to be more adjustable yet cheaper

I havent seen it yet. The Marketing hand of samsung tends to move completely disconnected from the engineering side. It does not look like the marketing firm i deal with was left in charge to promote this monitor 😛

Check out page 6 of this pdf. http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semiconductor/Support/ebrochure/tftlcd/wiseview_200403.pdf

It looks like there is a second TN 12ms lcd panel listed. I thought it was for european markets only but it looks like maybe its in the 710T.
