Difference Between Sony G420 and G400?

Hi,

I'm wondering what the exact differences between the G420 and the G400 are? Is the 420 a replacement? Is the 420 part of another line? If there is a difference, which is better?

The 420 fixes all of the bad RMA problems. It also is packaged better because Sony finally realized that their shipping packaging really does suck. And best of all every G420 comes packaged with some of the 'good stuff'.

The cases look different to me. The controls on the front panel are different. Is there any other differences? Performance? Is the 420 the new version?

I was out today and saw a gray model with a funky case. I forgot the model, but think it was something like HMDA400?. They had it in 17&quot; and 19&quot; and was priced about the same. Anybody have any idea what this is and how it compares to the other Sony 19&quot;.

I must say that I went out to the stores today and looked at monitors and I wasn't too impressed with the Sony store displays. To me, it didn't look any better than the Samsung 955DF. Maybe the 955DF was a tad brighter if anything.

What really bugged me more than I thought it would is the AG lines. I was watching a DVD movie on the HMDA Sony and I kept seeing the top AG line whenever the seen would turn bright on the movie. Do you Sony or AG users ever get used to the AG lines?

The difference between the Sony's and the Samsung 955DF must be in when you go to use it because I certainly can't tell in the store.

The G420S comes in a more streamline case, and it should be a fixed up version of the G400, all of the packaging issues should be gone, and it also should minimize the geometry problems. If the Sony didnt look at much better than the 955DF to you, then go with the 955DF, some people dont like AG(you're probably one of them). If you're looking for a better Shadow Mask monitor than the 955DF, I have one to recommend to you.
 
I guess the G420 is new and there weren't that many photos out of it. I found a site (can't remember where) that reviewed it and they had a photo of the E400 on the review. No wonder why I thought it looked like a E400. 😉

Anyway.. LXi had me look at the Sony site (Doh!) and the G420 case definitely does not look like the E400 or the G400.

I just wanted to post this in case you guys are scratching your heads over why I thought the G420 looked like the E400. 😉

The G420 case looks awesome btw.. 🙂

I just got my Sony G400 and it is perfect to me 🙂 I see no reason to spend more money for the G420 if there aren't any new features. Let me know how it goes if you decide to buy one...
 
I think g420 is assembeled in japan, not sure though.. 400 is assmebled in mexico and had some problems with assembely.

i ordered the g420 through dell for 421.56

can't wait to see it 😀

G420 has USB ports on it , as the G400 doesn't
