Difference between PrB266 & P4B266-C?

I currently have the P4B266-C version, and I see many with the P4B266 that have 1.8v vcore, while my P4B266-C only has 1.7, Is the C version a castrated version or something?

They both have the same 1.7V limit. The difference between them is that the -C version doesn't have USB 2.0, whereas the regular P4B266 does.

Anyone using 1.8V is using I believe it's called the "wire trick" which I'm unfamiliar of. Either way 1.7V is a high enough limit for me .

The C version lacks one DIMM slot and the USB 2.0 controller.

The latest versions of both boards allow much higher VCores through a special jumper setting.

Hmm..I don't recall my board having such a jumper. Also, I don't have the ability to change the fsb/memory settings, or whatever it is. It only gives me the 1:1 option for the memory speed... I don't recall seeing any updated bios for the P4B266-C the last time I looked ovef ASUSs website either, and the P4B266 has the option to change that aswell.



It would be nice if somebody could clarify this, and to be able to tell me which rev to get and/or which board to get. I'm mainly wanting that jumper for higher voltages.

Yes there is a jumper on my p4b266 called the Vcore Over-VOltage jumper... it's disable by default, but it's suppose to increase the max voltage range available in he bios.

Where on the board is this jumper located? I might have missed something, but I didn't see anything about it in the manual.

cheap the overvolt should be in the upper left corner of your mobo to the left of your cpu...there should be three blue jumpers...the rightmost one is the one you need to change to enable the higher voltage settings

as for the FSB...above 133 you can only set it to 1:1...i think it's a limitation of the i845d boards cuz i haven't seen any boards from different companies where you can change the ratios above 133FSB

Looks like you need PCB revision 2.0 for that jumper, as Andy first said.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna look in a bit to see if I might have that jumper. I jhave only had the board for a week..so maybe I'll get lucky. If not, theres the wire trick I guess.
