Can anyone tell me the real difference between PCI-e 16x and AGP 8x?

I have been searching for recent benchmarks in games using both but I have only found fairly old articles that state there is not much of a difference at all.

Can anyone please provide me with some sites that are up to date and compare the two connections?

Thanks!

much more bandwith. too bad it isnt used up by today's games(they cannot saturate a agp8x bus). speeds will be same, all other thinbs being equal.

that being said, pci-e allows 77w on the bus instead of 33w fro agp so some moderately powerful(x800xl, 6600) cards dont need connectors.

also, pci-e is not based on the pci bus so there s less interferance chance with a soundcard or modem or lan card or something.

agp slots share bandwith with every other pci device no the board. PCI-e slots are independant. thewre is no sharing of bandwith between pci-e connectors or between pci-e and pci. each have a flexible number of dedicated pci-e bus channels(anywhere from 1-16 channels per slot, depending on how many slots you use since the chipset controlling the motherboard has a maximum number of pci-e channles[usually between 24 and 32 channle i think, split over 4 slots or so.])
