Difference between Palomino 1200MP & ATHLON MP 1600+ (other than speed)

I notice Newegg has the 1200 MP for $60 bucks now. I am looking to replace two 1.4Ghz Tbirds with "real" MP processors. What's the difference between the 1.2 and 1.4 (MP 1600+) cores? They are both Palominos, is it just a marketing thing?

Also will the 1200 MPs run much cooler than the 1.4Ghz Tbirds?

Frankly, I do not remember the differences if there are any. But, I promise you that moving from 1.2 to 1.4 will not be enough to notice much of a difference in speed. If you want to see speed, get a pair of 2000+ MPs (1.6) at least and if possible go even higher if your motherboard will support it. Then you will feel some difference. Remember that processor speed is only a part of overall system speed. You are still held back by your hard drive, memory, etc. I am running a pair of 2000+ chips and upgraded from a pair of 1600+ MPs. I noticed some speed increase but not too much really. You may be disappointed with anything less.

1.4 tbirds were by far the hottest cpu's around

have you tried undervolting them?

id probably just stick with the 1.4's....only diff between tbird and pally is sse instructions....which i dunno if it will make much of a diff anyways...
