I see Atacom.com has these two motherboards, but what's the difference? I don't need RAID, Firewire or USB 2.0, which one is better? They seem the same to me :confused:

P4B533 = i845e chipset
P4B533-V = i845g chipset

The significant differences with the i845g is that it has integrated video and a slightly improved memory controller. The -V also has onboard LAN.

I have the P4B533-V. You can't use the integrated graphic controller because the performance is too poor and it slows down your memory access because the graphics card shares the system memory.

There have been a lot of problems with this board with respect to memory overclocking. If you want to use your memory at CL2, or use two memory sticks, don't get this board. I have had (and am still having) these problems, so take my word for it.

Get the P4B533-E, whether you want the Raid or Firewire or not, as this doesn't have the memory problems. Both of the boards have USB 2.0 and Lan and Audio is optional on both.

The new P4B533-VT looks good, but there have been no user reports on it yet (the reviews are very positive!). But it could have the same memory problems as the -V.

You can avoid the problems on the -V by using a "B" CPU to run your memory fast (eg +200MHz or DDR 400 using PC3200) and then to just forget about CL2 (ie use 2.5-3-3-6 - this works!). But you still have to use a single stick (eg 512Mb).
