I think the universal translator's core malfunctioned with some division by zero errors caused by too advanced cryptography. Thus, this treasure of other worlds will remain a mystery.

So what you guys are telling me is that all things equal, there is no difference in the quality of a digital audio file regardless of whether it was paid for or illegally obtained? And that buying an original disc simply adds to the pocketbooks of the artists and harms the environment by the creation of the plastics used for the physical product?

(...I assume that's what you were trying to say)

Response:

Yeah.

I literally had to read your response 8 times before figuring out what you were trying to say. What country are you from?

On a tangent, it'd be really great if they had a central licensing system for media. So if you bought a song, regardless of where you bought the song, you would own the rights to the high-quality copy, the low-quality copy, the streaming copy, etc. Same with movies.

This is why I have Netflix & MOG :p

Take the time to write out every word and not use abbreviations. It makes you appear uneducated, and people (especially on these forums) will take you less seriously.

Even if your grammar is incorrect, the effort to properly communicate would be nice from your side.

Or you risk looking like this:

not everyone speaks english as a 1st language.
many who can speak a 2nd language do not know how to write fluently in that language... explains the abbreviations (author jots down what he/she knows how to write and hopes the message gets across).

i had no difficulty understanding any of the OP's posts after a single reading. i don't need to understand every word in order to understand what is being said or asked.

:colbert:

what kind of obscenely insecure d!ckhead do you have to be in order to get off on mocking a person (who is here asking for help) simply because they don't speak/write fluent english?

Wow, you think he's a jerk, so you are going to type like a jerk.
Hint: not necessary.

I don't think anyone was mocking anyone, maybe a rolleyes or two over the ghetto typing, but not what you say there.
I don't even know if you are addressing me or someone else, btw (not like it matters though).

P.S. I am not a native speaker either, and most of my english I learned all by myself.

P.P.S. Could a mod lock the thread?

No excuses for that level of illegibility.

You're the kind of guy that thinks everyone's a winner and deserves a trophy just for playing, aren't you?

If this was the 18th century, I could understand. But I'm sure his browser is underlining every one of his words with a swiggly red line. It's not about insecurity, it's not about mocking someone, it's not about intelligence even:

It's about effort. Make, at least the effort, with some spellcheck or something else, google translation from your language to ours, and paste something that is halfway intelligible.

What if we all answered his questions with posts that are as broken up as his were? Would he even be able to decipher what we are saying? At least this way, maybe he'll learn something. Maybe one day, someone else will ask a question and he'd be able to answer it halfway decently.

But it all starts with effort, and he shows none.

This should read: "buying an original disc simply adds to the pocketbooks of the music executives and harms the environment"

Except for indie artists, the money from music sales is stolen long before it reaches the artists. Artists make their money from touring.

Honest question, unless you learned English from reading truly gutter forums, poorly composed tweets or SMS messages, you would not type words like that. In fact, slang terms are probably the hardest to learn in a language to use them half-way correctly otherwise you end just typing gobbledygook.

I've met a person who initially learned Japanese from subtitled tentacle hentai so you know... stuff happens.

There's nothing more satisfying on the internet, besides Asian porn, than watching a thread go completely off the rails.

Thankfully, I worked in retail so I speak fluent moron. To answer the OP's question. No. Digital copies are perfect 1:1 regardless of where they came from. So a 256kb/s AAC CD rip off a torrent is probably going to sound the same as an album off iTunes, unless the originals were mastered differently.

The difference between purchased music quality and illegally downloaded music quality depends on how it was encoded I suppose. Chances are you can easily find illegal copies that are higher quality than most legal channels you can get it from, at least digitally. I'm not sure that's what this thread is really about though.

Spelling and grammar aside, it sounds to me like the op is trying to justify something here. The implied point I get is "Why should I create pollution in the form of CDs and make rich artists richer when I'm not even getting a better product than I can get for free illegally"?

I say if you were really taking a stand against pollution and rich artists, you'd buy digital music from poor independent artists. I doubt he's going to do that though.

There is "mastered for iTunes" content now but I don't know ifs its actually better.

It would surprise me if it wasn't significantly worse.

The difference is, a lot of pirates actually care about music quality. Record companies don't care about quality because by the time you're listening to it they already have your money.
