Difference between NF7 and NF7-S - both v2.0?

I am looking to upgrade my Athlon XP1600+ to Mobile Barton 2400/2500+ and my old MSI KT3 Ultra 2 to Abit NF7.

Now i've found the difference between NF7 and NF7-S is:

NF7 has everything NF7-S does but lacks:

- IDE RAID
- 2 Firewire ports
- SoundStorm audio

My question is in terms of overclocking ability is NF7 = NF7-S statistically speaking?

My only goal is overclocking and nothing else so I will forego those 3 features to get a better cooler and better overclock. Any other suggestions for an awesome overclocking mobo for a reasonable 80-100 price?

It appears that both have official 400MHz support now, so I'll wager that the only difference are those that you listed (other than you missed SATA RAID), since they should both be using the nForce Ultra400 chipset.

I think it used to be that only the V2.0 has the Ultra 400, but the normal NF7 (without the -S) uses the vanilla nForce2 chipset.

It appears even the regular NF7 without "S" designation has support for 400FSB+

NF7 v2.0 at newegg?

It says:

Chipset: NVIDIA nForce2 SPP + MCP
FSB: 400/333/266/200MHz

hmmm.... doesn't seem like an Nforce 2 Ultra 400 chipset then again it says it supports 400FSB any ideas anyone how good normal NF7 is non-S version for overclocking?

Now Abit's Website says both NF7 and NF7-S have Ultra 400 Nforce2 chipset as the North Bridge

NF7 vs. NF7-S features - Abit official

Now all i need is a confirmation of its same great overclocking potential as the NF7-S.

They should be identical overclocking wise. The only differences are in their featureset.

My opinion unfortunately would be biased towards the NF7-S here since mine has served me well since i opened the box.

If overclocking is your goal then Id probably spend the extra $$ on the S just in case I needed the extra features.

I said this when commenting on the AN7 Vs. NF7-S and I would apply it when looking at this situation....

I would go for a proven performer rather than go for something of which few people had experience of.
