Difference between MadDog 9250 PCI and AGP

Hi, I just purchased the MadDog 9250 PCI card from CompUSA. Then I found that they have AGP version of the same card on sale for $30 after rebates also. Now I wonder if I should return the PCI card and exchange for the AGP?

My system is a Duron 900 with 640mb PC 133 ram, currently has a ATI rage video card in the AGP slot. I would like to play Sim 2, Playboy Mansion, Diablo 2 any similar type of games. Can you advise if I should exchange for the AGP version or it would not matter anyway since the card is not too fast and the speed of the PCI or AGP port won't make much difference. The reason why I don't want to exchange is I bought a total over $999 of stuff at CompUSA and there's a $100 rebate for such purchase. If I return the card, I scare it will screw up the rebate even though with returning the card my total still comes to over $999.

Thanks for all the help as I don't know much about Video Cards, hope you can help me.

u definatly want the AGP version, it will definately have better performance over the PCI. Even the old geforce2MX performance suffered when it was on PCI. I don't think that comp will play sims 2 well, but it would be enough for diablo 2 and would be better than the card u already have.

If it wont mess up ur rebates, exchange it

Thanks DarkKnight, you mean even with the AGP version of this card, my computer still won't play Sim 2 fine? Thanks again for your help!

A lot of the problem with SIMS2 and that computer is the speed of the CPU. SIMS2 is pretty CPU bound as things get going and it has to compute more stuff.

Thanks for your help. I think I will return the card and give the rag to my mom =P as she doesn't play any game except just to use the comp for Word and IE. Now I wonder what card I should get for my new rag. Can you refer to my other thread about building and system with the EPoX Mini ME and suggest what card I should get base on my purposed config for the rag. Thanks very much for your help!
