Ok...here goes. I won't do the best job explaining it by the way. Burnproof is SANYO's proprietary technology software solution for what is called buffer underrn. Basically, a buffer is filled with information that will be written onto the disk, and then that info is transferred to the new cd. When the buffer is empty, then the CD writing process may become corrupt because there is a loss of the continuous stream of data. Burn proof protects against that by monitoring the buffer (usually 2mb) and whenever it becomes too low, the software halts the writing process until the buffer can be refilled and then it is continued where the writing left off.
Now, the older version of burn proof left a gap of about 20 (microns?) between the point it left of and the point it picks up. This is very small bu sometimes it contributes to a faulty cd (though very rarely). The new version of burn proof lowers this to about 2 microns. Just link is competing technology but very similar to burnproof. The gap it creates is about 5 microns. Don't worry, whatever version you have, you should be able to fash your cdrw. Anyway, look to
