I was wanting a mATX g35 but they are all ATX. But I see many g33 mATX mobos and was thinking about getting that instead.

Do these boards have the same optimized DDR2 memory controller? What does the g33 chipset lack that the g35 has?

Thanks for any info. :)

the g35 chipset isnt released until september. the only difference is that the g35's igp is supposed to be dx10... has 2 more unified shaders etc and vc1/h264 hardware decode.

The manufacturers have a choice when it comes to which SouthBridge to use. The two early preview boards I have both contain the ICH9DH. Unfortunately, there is another silicon spin coming to address some issues along with a new set of drivers so no preview numbers at this stage. Release is still expected to be in late September.

Thanks for the update Gary. I was going to rule out the G35 and wait for the Eaglelake chipset instead. But, if manufacturers are designing boards with the newer ICH9DH chipsets, then the G35 may just come back into contention. The Eaglelake is not slated for release until Q2 2008, which is quite a long wait.

Yes, thank you very much for the update Gary! Did either of those boards (or any others you've heard the specs for), have HDMI or DVI built-in?

There are two G33 boards with HD-outputs: Gigabyte is supposed to have the GA-G33M-S2H with HDMI (vs. -S2 without), and Intel has the DG33TLM with DVI-D (zipzoomfly has the Intel board, and probably more will too as time goes on). I'm hoping that a good number of the G35's will follow on those leads.

i would assume more boards will start coming with dvi. if you want a g33 with hdmi the only way you can do it is the shuttle xpc with g33.

also its not that big a deal anyway, you can buy an add2-n card for intel boards for like $8 on ebay.

If you care about integrated graphics, G35 has enhanced Intel Clear Video features and an IGP with DX10/SM4.0/OGL2.0 support in hardware. The number of shaders will also increase from 8, not sure how many, there are two numbers, 10 and 16.
