Difference between General Hardware & Tech Support?

Is there a difference between the two? In the line describing General Hardware Forum it says:

For Technical Support it says:



<< Need a little technical help? Got some good tips? This is the place. >>



Every other post in General Hardware Forum is about technical help for a computer problem with some annoying title like &quot;******************* HELP ME ****************&quot; or &quot;SUPA DE DUPA URGENT HELP NEEDED HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!&quot; or &quot;-----------> FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME <-------------&quot;.

I know those q's are related to hardware, but its not really a hardware issue if its only affecting one person's computer. (or if they can't get their hard drive working correctly) Shouldn't there be a more fine line drawn between what posts goes into General Hardware and what posts go into Tech Support? I think that if GH was about hardware and technology that it should remain that way - discussing potential problems with new tech. or hard., and leaving all INDIVIDUAL problems people have in TS.

Your point is well made, however the history of these Forums as such has been that General Hardware gets far more visitation and thus people post their problems there for greater visibility/better chances for replies.

Changing this behavior would take a long time, and a lot more 'Mods.

the response may be slower, but your post doesn't dissapear in 5 min in Tech support. also IMO there is less miss-information delt out in the tech support. I don't post in GH, but I lurk there, and it seems to happen more frequently. the other thing is that GH does seem to cover a wider base.

MR - you and war sort of hit it right on the dot - the GH gets so much more attn - think about all the computer problems people have that post in the TS forum - if we actually started having the tech support questions posted in TS as opposed to GH more questions would get answered, therefore uncluttering the GH forum and making TS the forum its supposed to be.

um, and we can discuss ongoing technologies, or soon to be there too...

um... tech support is for help ONLY and includes hardware and software.
