Difference between DVD-R & DVD+R (?)

Hi,

I am somewhat behind the times on this topic.

Basically, from a usability perspective, what is the difference between the "plus" and "minus" blank DVD formats?

Given the fact that most new drives are +/- combo units, when would I choose one format over the other?

Do the relative differences also hold true for the rewritable versions?

Thanks,

David

It's more a compatibility issue. Most modern drives will recognize both but I believe there was a website that conducted a test on each media. Including older DVD players, DVD+R had a 86% compatibility (due to errors with Sony drives) and DVD-R had a 96% compatibility rate.
