Difference between DFI Lanparty Sli-D and Slid-DR?

I ordered the SLI-D to be installed in my system, and upon further reading, it seems like the DR is better of the two. And oddly enough, microbytes.ca has it listed 10 bucks cheaper, I have no idea why.

This is what I found on the site:

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2337&p=2

Can someone explain this to me in plain english? What is Sil3114 and FrontX?

From what I understand, Sil3114 makes it possible to add more hard-drives and do Raid5 without any extra Raid controller, correct? And FrontX seems to put some of the ports from the back to the front. This is just a simple understanding from the limited knowledge that I have, so please help me out. I don't have much time before they assemble the PC, so if I need to make any changes, it must be soon.

Thanks a lot. :)

You are correct 3114 adds raid 5, but I don't think it allows for MORE drives (not sure on that one though). The D has a 3132 I think (the same as MSI). Both have the nforce sata controller as well. Frontx is an addon bay expansion that brings sata sound and I think firewire/usb to the front of the PC.

I have the DR-UT which is the same as the DR, except you don't get the lan tote and frontx.

So in practical terms, the Sli-DR is better than Sli-D, right? Especially for ten bucks cheaper. :p

Thanks giz.

I'm very confused about the pricing though, it's weird that they'd make the better motherboard cheaper...

Ok, now I see that EVERY site (newegg, tigerdirect, etc.) has the SLI-D listed at a higher price than the SLI-DR... why is that?
