Two almost same config, one is Dell Dimension 4700 and one is 8400. The price difference is almost 400 dollars. What differences are 4700 and 8400?

8400 - more expandability.

That's about it IIRC.

<-- bought a 4700 with no regrets.

5 years ago, I would never think about buying a Dell. Now, with less proprietary parts, quieter overall system and cheaper price, I think my next new system will be a Dell.

I was under the impression that the 4700 was smaller (less front and rear bays) and lacked front-side sound and usb. Not certain about that though.

As you've probably seen, it's cool to hate Dell these days for no other reason than it's a Dell.

I'd like to see them build a computer and provide the support that Dell does for the prices of the systems in their Outlet store.

It has front USB and it is definitely smaller then the 8400. No big deal to me anymore. I have a monster case that just takes up room and is loud as hell. I'm happy to have a the Dell.
