difference between contemporary classical music and regular classical music?

I can't think of any 20th or 2st Century classical composers whose work I enjoy. Movie soundtracks aren't usually considered "real" classical music since most are pastiches or homages that borrow too heavily from existing compositions to be considered original.

Classical is not just one kind of music. The term covers music over several centuries with different syles and periods.

Is this for homework? Can you ask a more specific question?

These days, all the sweet and melodious themes have been taken by previous composers(Beethoven, Motzart, Schubert, Haydn....I could go on all day 🙂 ) so contemporary composers (Bartok) have resorted to dissonance, under the heading 'modern'. 😉

don't take me seriously on this.
