Could anyone please tell me the exact difference between a Carburetor and Fuel Injection. Which is better and why. Any sites offering the difference will also do.
I don't have a definite answer but I know the difference between the two. Fuel Injection uses computers and is said to be more efficient while carburetor mechanically mixes fuel/air and is not as efficient.
Im waiting for Zemmervolt and Roger to reply. They'd asnwer it much more detail.
Fuel Injection uses injectors (nozzles almost) to spray fuel into either the throttle body or the intake tract. Carburetors rely on the motor's intake air to mix the fuel automatically (pulls the right amount of fuel into the carb on its own).
Old School (Carburetor) vs. New School (Fuel Injection)
Fuel injection will be argued to be better but I know on my dad's 51 chevy he wouldn't trade his 4 barrel carb for fuel injection any day. Fuel injection is more exact and better timed (if the computer is calibrated correctly!) I'd say for new cars fuel injection is better and for antique cars carb is better.
