Hey guys:

I have two VisionTek GeForce 3s in front of me, one which is a friend's. We both bought them around the same time but I noticed that his card has a Bt868 chipset for the TV-Out whereas mine has a Bt869 chip. What is the difference (if any) between these two chips, and why did they make two different chips?

As far as I can tell, the two cards are very similar, mine being manufactured about 6 weeks earlier than his.

The bt868/869 are functionally identical with the exception that the Bt869 can output Macrovision Level 7.01 anticopy algorithm.

No that wasnt c+p, but it was copied straight from a pdf, i hope your happy..lol i spent 10 minutes looking for that, here is the link
link to pdf

its just copy protection stuff, same chip's.. have fun with your card ..

So is the Bt869 'superior' to the Bt868? What does it mean that the Bt869 can output the Macrovision 7.01 algorithm? Does that mean that the Bt868 cannot display stuff encoded with Macrovision 7.01?

its not superior, check that link out, they are actaully exactly the same chip except for that.. ya only that one supports the Level 7.01 macrovision anticopying algorithm.. but dude its NOT a big deal, you will probably not ever come across it, its for VHS, if you do a search, you can find pdf's explaining it.. but you will probably never hear about it again.. they are both the same exact chip except for that..

-i believe the other supports Level's prior to 7.01.. but its NOT an issuse at all, be happy with the card =)
[edit] if by some weird chance you ever came across it, you could output it through software, which wouldnt be a big deal [/edit]
