Is there a difference between calling something ATA 100 and calling it ultra DMA 100? I'm just trying to figure out the specifications of my motherboard (Abit TH711-Raid). In one part of the manual it says that the raid controller supports advanved ATA 133 hard drives and in another section it says that the IDE ports can support 8 ultra DMA 33/66/100 devices. So can it support 100 or 133?

ultra ata-100 and ultra dma 100: they're the same thing, your controller can support ultra ata-133 drives. in real world performance there is no difference between the two, individual drives don't even come close to saturating and sustaining the 100MB/sec bandwidth of ATA-100.

The documentation is wrong or deliberately misleading. The HPT370 only supports up to ATA100 speeds. ATA133 drives are compatible with ATA100 controllers, so the RAID and Intel (which is also up to ATA100) controllers will "support" the drives, but not in their native mode. The difference is essentially nil between 100 and 133.
