Difference between Asus P4S533 and the Asus P4S333 is ...

i say absolutely nothing. but thats from my openion.
i kept reading and reading .. they both support future processor 533 mhz .13 micron blah blah blah .... they both are good overclockers... blah blah ddr333 blah blah ... all the good stuff blah blah ... nothing realy major guys! is there something i dont see?

1. P4S333 uses the SiS® 645 chipset while the P4S533 is utilizes the SiS® 645DX chipset

From what I see, the P4S533 appears to be a later revision of the P4S333 utilizing an updated chipset.

actually we arent even sure the DX chip isnt just a marketing ploy - many of us 645 users are already using bios's from the 645DX on our 645 boards.

maybe the DX supports 133+fsb better. Asus's board is supposed to have ATA133 and official DDR400 support. we'll never know til they are released.

no ATA133 support as far as my researches have gone. shippin out this week, is highly unlikely. i have been tracing this board for almost a month.

This is exactly what I was thinking! I actually thought I might post this very question and BAM there it was.

Why should I wait and pay more for the P4S533 if the P4S333 will do the exact same thing? Hmmm....

I think you are right too, why would they design a new chipset when they allready have one that does exactly what they need? I think when they designed the 645 they knew Intel was going to a 533FSB, so they built it with that in mind. Now that the 533 FSB is being released, they are releasing a "new" chipset by calling it the 645DX. When I first booted up my P4S333 with a 1.6A it gave me 3 options for CPU speed: manual, 1600 (100 FSB), and 2128 (133FSB) Why would the BIOS think my CPU would run at that speed if it wasn't set up to run at 133FSB? Can anyone tell me if the P4B-266 does this as well?

if the dx doesn't offer at least ata133 or take care of some of the latency issues there is absolutely no reason to buy it...flashing a p4s333 to p4s533 does nothing really except give us the expanded ratios to run 400mhz ddr at both 100mhz fsb and 133fsb...

Hopefully it will just drive the price of sis645 boards down so many can take advantage of it...


I am more interested in a dual channel ddr board to be released soon...

How can that be...I am reading it now as I speak and it clearly states udma 133 ( http://usa.asus.com/mb/mbindex.htm )....I am sure it was like that at least last week as well....

funny cuz i could have sworn that when i read it it didnt mention anything about ultra dma 133. i guess thats a plus if you dont have your maxtor pci 133 card

i called atacom and they told me to check to this friday also. i highly doubt they will have it.

This whole affair reminds me of VIA 133 then 133A, 266 then 266A etc etc except the "A" was in fact better. So lets hope that SiS is in fact releasing a souped up 645 (DX) chipset and not a "marketing gimmick". In any case the boards are still cheap so i can mess with their Bioses as opposed to VIA/Intel.

I guess I stand corrected then. After further research, apparently the SiS645DX with the 961B south bridge does support ATA133.

That's pretty pricey -- even for an Asus board.

dude the P4B266 is for $156 at newegg. i think $116 is nothing for a brandnew board with audio and ata133 controller on board.

$116 is very inexpensive for a great motherboard. I paid that for my P3V4X when it came out.

Atacom says ETA 5/10 on their order page.

The P4S333 is $91. So, for $25 more we could but the new board. Personally, the $25 is a negligible difference for better features. However, if it doesn't offer any real benefits than the $25 is wasted.

max vcore is 1.8v on the p4s533 same as the p4s333.
