easy way to keep them straight is v = via a = ali and m = amd
a7v266 is the newest via kt266 chipset board. its the next in progression from a7v and a7v133
the a7a266 is the ddr ali chipset
and the a7m266 is the ddr amd 761 chipset

Boonesmi:

Great tip on the "a" "v" and "m". :)

Which is the best board? I'm thinking the a7v because it's not even out yet.

I've seen an Asus A7A266 retail box for $131 I believe. Would this be a good board if I was looking into getting a DDR board?

I'm a new builder and I'm not sure if I should go with a DDR board. I'm on bit of a budget and would like to get a DDR board now, so I can buy PC2100 RAM and try and future proof my system as best as I can. The RAM is about the same money as PC133 and this Asus board is not much more money than other boards that I see that don't use DDR RAM.

Also.. Would it be a good idea to stick a Duron on this board until prices came down on the faster Athlon's? Duron's can be found for as little as $37 and the 1.33 Athlon T/bird is still around $200.

Thoughts?

Thanks again,

Sal

Care to beta test that for them, because that's what you end up doing when you buy a mobo when it first comes out.

The A7M because it is the OLDEST and has the indestructible AMD761 Northbridge.

Well if that is the way it runs from A7V to A7V133 to A7V266 then I would buy one in a heartbeat without seeing any reviews, But then again I have used and like both of them
