Difference between AMD XP and MP?

Is there any real difference between the XP's and the MP's. I want to build a dual amd system, but i was wondering if there is a differnce are are they pretty much the same

They are the same-except in price

MP offically supports SMP and is warentied as such. XP supports smp 100% but isn't warrentied if you do so. They both use the XP core.

They both use the Palomino core. Also the XP's come multiplier locked, the MP's don't.

I think AMD said there were going to do something about this so people can't get away with using XP processor in dual proc. rigs. Does anybody know if these so-called smp incompatible processors have made it to the market yet (or estimates of when they will)?

The biggest difference is one has an 'X' on it, the other has an 'M'..

They both have a 'P' in the name 'XP' and 'MP'.

No reports yet. My XP 1600's are running smp fine.
