i downloaded acrobat professional 7.0 today and whats the difference between that and adobe reader 7.0 that i had? does acrobat do everything reader does + more?

If you're saying you know where to get Adobe Acrobat for free, I'd like to know how to get it. Where can I get it?

Do you need to create PDF documents? If so, then you need Adobe Acrobat or some other software designed for that purpose. If you just need to read PDF's, then you only need Adobe Reader.

No, you should uninstall the Acrobat Pro 7.0 because you're supposed to pay for it. The Acrobat Reader 7.0 is free - download and install to your heart's content.

**EDIT** Piracy is NOT condoned on these forums! Be VERY careful about what you're posting here! :|

nope, got it from a friend. he doesnt really use it and it came with one of those big package things, so he basically gave me his serial number
edit: i downloaded the installer because his was part of some kind of production studio and he couldnt give me the whole thing

If it came with one of those big packages it isn't transferrable since it's probably OEM. That is still considered pirating a copy of Adobe Acrobat.

-- This right here is piracy. We don't condone it here and the mods do not take lightly to it either.

Well if it is piracy, then im uninstalling it. It sounded pretty cool though. Thanks for the heads up guys.

I believe meerly downloading software is not illegal. If you loose your CDs for a program and do not feel like paying for a new copy are you not enitled to borrow someone else's install files?

It sounds to me like the OP has a valid serial number which _may or may not_ be untransferable. Even if it was, the transfer would be a breach of EULA rather than a criminal act, and wouldn't be immoral in the slightest since no-one loses out. And don't tell me you never breached EULA - have you ever actually read the Microsoft EULA?

Acrobat Standard 7.0 and up requires activation. It allows for three, then you have to call Adobe. It is more stringent than Windows. A change of HDD requires reactivation. It does allow you to transfer activation, however, so you have to plan your HDD change in advance. It's a real PITA.

I've had to reactivate my copy of Photoshop CS before. I forgot to deactivate it before I reformatted, so I just called Adobe and explained the situation to the representative. Since then, I've been able to reinstall without any issues about deactivation/reactiviation.

if ur gonna just read pdfs use foxit. its free, its so much faster and less bloated. reader loadsa disturbing amount just to read a freakin document....

Yeah, major PITA. I have the full Creative Suite, and the damn thing takes 2 hours to install in the first place.
