Difference between Adaptec RAID and Promise RAID cards

I'm getting a P4C800 Deluxe and I hear the RAID performance is subpar (or to be more accurate SUCKS ANUS). I want to get a PCI card that'll perform better. Any suggestions? I'm on somewhat of a tight budget.

How much of a budget is a "tight budget"?

I presume you're going with IDE ...

You should be able to pick up a great Promise card for ~$70-75 USD shipped.

well first of all i need it to be SATA150 compatible... also my budget is around 100 shipped. I want somethign that'll be faster and take the load of the CPU...also I was wondering if they are hard to set up?

hehe another question... the promise line has the FastTrak S150TX2plus (approx 70) and the FastTrak S150TX4 (approx 120) anyone able to decipher the difference?

FastTrak S150TX2plus = 2 x SATA and 1 x ATA/133
FastTrak S150TX4 = 4 x SATA
