I'm thinking is a softmod of some sorts. So what the best way to turn my ultra into a ultra ee.

There's no softmodding necessary, IIRC. The only things separating the 6800GT, 6800U, and 6800UE are just speed bumps. All you need to do is take a stab at overclocking it.

They were never really that many (any?) released, so hardly anyone could actually even buy one.

IIRC, the 6800UE was never available in very big quantities. I think that's what he's saying.

So you can get the 68u from monarch for $479 and the 68ue for $799. With a +50/+100 difference. But instead of paying $320 more. Is there a way in which you can tweak the 68u so that you can get 68ue speeds? And if so how?

I told you already; it's called overclocking :)

Yes you can find a few cards clocked at 450/1200 and called ultra extreme, but NV essentially cancelled the official 6800U-EE.

The 6800 UE does have its own BIOS that is different from the 6800 U ..I am too chicken try the EE BIOS on my card but I did find the BIOS and have it if anyone else wants to try. :)

My Ultra has done 450/1150 thru a run of 3D Mark but I get artifacting while gaming and the performance sucks.

I can run it at 440/1140 all day long though which is pretty close to EE speeds. But then again guys with EEs are getting near 500mhz on their cores with water cooling and 1300+ on the ram! :Q

Ultras do vary abit in quality but 440/1140 is about average for and Ultra OC...or you can pretty much expect to get near there or better.

BUT all told @ 425/1100( stock) the eVGA 6800 Ultra kicks ass and it really runs its best that way...my 6800 GT had to work pretty hard to even be able to bench close to what my Ultra does stock.

GT is on a different PCB than the Ultra and UEE, but very similar, just a speed bump down.

My understanding on the Ultra and Ultra Extreme Edition, is that the UEE is clocked slightly higher. Otherwise they are the exact same thing. Personally I like others dont count the UEE as existing, since they were mostly for Alienware and other OEM's and never really hit the market. Heck the Ultra is still hard to find in AGP and non existant in PCIe.

Overall GT is an Ultra chip clocked lower on a differently designed board and the U and UEE are the exact same thing just slightly different clocks.

I'd say ~1% of the 6800 16-pipe gpu's clock to the Ultra E.E. specs to begin with, so overclocking them to that spec will prove nearly impossible, as if they do/did, they would have gladly been classified as E.E. parts and used on those 800 dollar cards.

wow, nice price. I'll go sell those for you in the Hot Deals section since my 3200+/MSI k8N Neo2 Plat. has been excellent. :)

THe Ultra EE would be worth there price if they shipped with like 1gb of video ram.:)
