difference between 8 wire and 4 wire peripheral connectors?

I just received a new Enermax noisetaker power supply for a new computer I'm building. Is there a difference between those two? I was thinking I could use the one with 4 wires on it for a kind of central fan connector on my Enermax case.

7-pin is for Serial ATA
6-pin AUX power connector
4-pin 12V(CPU) power connector
4-pin EXTRA power connector for AGP 8X graphic card
4-pin floppy connector

Maybe I'll install my webcam and take pictures to show you. I mean the ones you plug in your HD, floppy & DVD. Aren't they all the same? Only thing is, most of them have 8 wires going to them. I don't mean the pins.

BTW, I did notice my Asus A7V600-X has a "Internal audio connectors (4-pin CD, AUX)"
I don't have a sound card so is that necessary?

That is either for the cable going from the CDROM to the motherboard or for front audio controls.

do you mean the daisy chained molex connectors? The one at the end of the chain will have only 4 wires, the ones in the middle of the line will have 8 wires. If this is what you are trying to describes they are the same, but you should take the pics to be sure we undersnat what you mean.

I'm too busy today to take the pics. Might do it tomorrow.
But, now I have everything hooked up. Haven't turned it on yet because I'm waiting for the keyboard. (Can't use my other one because of an "issue".)
Anyway, I decided to use the 4 wire one for the central fan connector. The other ones (8 wire) were used for floppy, HD and DVD.

BTW, you use the same IDE cable for the DVD right? There was so much space between my HD and DVD that I could not use the same IDE cable to connect both. So I took a ribbon cable and hooked it up to the DVD. Are there round IDE cables that don't have that "slave" thing in the middle? I feel like getting rid of the ugly ribbon cable and the round IDE cable with the slave thing in the middle and get two round cables that don't have any connectors in between.
